SEO, Search, Social Media, Blogging and Web Design Trends in 2012

Everywhere on web I see people making prediction what will happen in 2012 and I decided to a couple of my own, don’t worry I won’t be talking about the recession, only about intenet marketing. I’m not a futuristic writer so don’t expect something unimaginable, just a few possible changes.
SEO
Finally we’ll get rid of spamming SEO techniques, baclinks and Page Rank won’t count any more, Google will make a new update Panda 2 that will rank “high quality” sites. Thus focusing on quality metrics that entail usability, readability and overall usefulness. SEO won’t die in 2012 but will focus on more important concepts and ideas that will involve Social Media. In the same time SEO will merger with CRO as a result you’ll get not only traffic, but the opportunity to convert it.
Search Engines
Google will add more improvements to its search engine in order to get rid of small contenders like Blekko or Ixquick. The manifold social enhancements such as who +1′ed, shared or authored a post make the SERPs look like a collection of gif clip art. I’m afraid this won’t be the end of this trend of more confusion.
Google will create a similar application to Apple’s Siri for Android, a virtual assistant that will provide you with info from Adwords results. The same thing will do Microsoft WinMob. It won’t be needed to optimise your mobile website, cause people won’t be using manual search.
Social media
Google+ will increase it’s market share while Facebook will loose it’s ground. In 2011 Facebook lost 6 million users and the number is growing. Many people move to other social media sites like Diaspora, Google+ or Tumblr. In 2012 it will finally become obvious that the social networking and UGC market is saturated and that creating another site that demands time and effort is not a valid business model anymore.
Blogging
It will be the end of blogging as we know it now, google will start banning more and more blogs used by spammers to promote their clients. Tumblr will grow in power, and will compete with WordPress. Corporate blogging fails.
Web development
No more Flash – there will be no Flash on Android and RIM tablets and smartphones anymore. Thus the original Flash will die finally. Adobe is already working on a HTML5 implementation instead. So Flash will be probably resurrected based on Web Standards.

In my opinion, making your site trustworthy and reliable, building high quality backlinks are the most efficient way to increase page rank. Build outbound links from your website to authority sites like Wikipedia. Just make sure that you are linking to post that is relevant to your niche/keyword. It tells Google that your are also contributing or supplying more information.

Nowadays Page Rank has no influence on your rankings or trustworthiness, it’s more used by dodgy SEO companies which are selling black-hat SEO
