Technical problems had started to emerge across some outlet and store locations within the UK, and Clarins were quick to act. Having spoken with our team, it became clear that they needed a network infrastructure that was more capable of keeping pace with the demands of busy retail environments. Store staff had been experiencing intermittent issues that were disrupting point-of-sale systems and slowing down transaction processing. These connectivity problems were impacting sales, and were beginning to affect the overall customer experience.
To resolve these challenges, Clarins required a full site refresh for their UK outlet and store locations, including a complete redesign and deployment of their network architecture. However, the upgrade needed to be implemented while minimising disruption to daily operations. This would ensure that store teams could continue to serve customers without interruption, and with zero reputational damage.
Reliable Networks developed a strategic approach to overhaul Clarins’ store connectivity, implementing new enterprise-grade Meraki equipment and upgrading connectivity infrastructure.
The solution combined high-performance fibre connections with a resilient 5G backup system, using multiple carriers to guarantee the best possible coverage. This ensured that, even in the event of connectivity issues, store staff would be able to continue processing sales effectively, creating a seamless retail experience and satisfying customers throughout the stores.
Prior to implementation, we carried out a comprehensive assessment to understand the specific needs of each location. We coordinated with key stakeholders and store teams to gather insights into operational challenges, ensuring the solution was tailored to the unique requirements of Clarins’ various retail environments. A thorough technical discovery, architecture, and design phase followed. This laid a solid foundation for a robust, scalable, and reliable network infrastructure.
With careful planning and a strategic roadmap in place, we prioritised the busiest and most impacted stores for the first phase of the upgrade. Phase one covered 13 key sites, including Clarins’ highest-traffic retail locations and those experiencing the most significant technical disruptions. Once this was successfully completed, we moved into phase two of the project. This addressed a further eight UK sites, bringing the total network refresh rollout to 21 locations over a three-month period.
The project was successfully delivered over the course of several months, with minimal disruption to Clarins’ retail operations. The upgraded network infrastructure provided significant improvements in connectivity, reducing the risk of outages and ensuring a smoother, more efficient sales process.
With a reliable 5G backup system in place, store staff could now operate with greater confidence, knowing that connectivity issues would not impact their ability to serve and satisfy customers.
