Get to know Microsoft Edge
Welcome to the latest way to surf the web! Microsoft Edge gives you new ways to find things, read – and write – on the web, plus help from Cortana where you need it. To get going, select Microsoft Edge on the taskbar.
Hub: all your stuff in one place
Think of the Hub as the place where Microsfot Edge keeps the things you collect on the web. Select Hub to view your favourites, reading list, browsing history and current downloads.
Looking for your favourites? In the Hub, choose Favourites, then select Import favourites.
Search faster from the address bar
There’s no need to go to a website to search for pictures of adorable baby penguins. Stay put and save time by entering your search in the handy address bar. You’ll get search suggestions, instant results from the web and your browsing history on the spot.
Write on the web
Microsoft Edge is the only browser that lets you take notes, write, doodle and highlight directly on web pages. Then you can save and share your handiwork in all the usual ways. Make notes on recipes, send your partner “subtle hints” about birthday gifts, or just draw moustaches on celebrities – the web is your canvas.
Select Make a web note to start adding to the page you’re on.
Use the Pen to write with your touchscreen or mouse, Highlight or Type a note, then Share it.
Take your reading with you
Reading list gives you a place to save articles or other content that you want to read later – on the bus, over the weekend – whenever you like.
Just select Add to favourites or reading list > Reading list > Add. When you’re ready to read, go to the Hub and select Reading list.
Read with fewer distractions
For a clean and simple layout, select Reading view in the address bar to bring whatever you’re reading to the front and centre. You can ever change the reading view style and font size to suit your mood – select More actions > Settings.
In Perfect synergy: Cortana and Microsoft Edge
Like cats and videos, some things are just better together. Only Microsoft Edge has your personal assistant, Cortana, ready to help you wherever you are. When you stumble across a topic on the web that you’d like you know more about. Cortana is your ready and able, all-knowing guru. Highlight a word or phrase, right click it, then Ask Cortana to find out all about it.
